Bucknell posts 305-303, stands in 11th place
36-HOLE RESULTS
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Erin Holmes followed up an opening round 75 with a career-best, 2-over-par 73 to lead the Bucknell women's golf team on day one of the Delaware Invitational at Rehoboth Beach Country Club. Holmes posted the team's best score in both rounds on Saturday, and the team counted four scores of 77 or better in both rounds en route to a 608 total (305-303).
The Bison are in 11th place after 36 holes, leading Western Michigan and host Delaware's second team in a strong field. Seton Hall shot 287-293 for a 580 total, good for a three-shot lead on Delaware's top group. Georgetown, Penn and High Point round out the top five.
Holmes sits in a tie for 15th place on the player leaderboard. She made four birdies on the day, two in each round, and had nothing worse than bogey on the way to the second-round 73. After starting on the 15th hole, Holmes sat at +3 on the round before making back-to-back birdies at 11 and 12.
It was a remarkably consistent day for the Bison, as Katie Childers shot 76-76, Casey Morrow and Sally Sohn both shot 77-77, and Meredith Langs posted 78-77.
Childers made 15 pars in the first round and 13 plus a birdie in the second round. If not for one tough hole in each round, Childers would be sitting in the top 10.
Sarah Kahn of High Point is the lone player in the field under par after 36 holes. Kahn shot 71-69 for a 2-under total of 140. Seton Hall's Elizabeth Win, Georgetown's Alexa Popowitz, and Penn's Rina Jung are all tied for second at +1.
The third and final round gets underway on Sunday at 9 a.m. Bucknell will play with Western Michigan and Columbia.
