LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell junior pitcher Connor Van Hoose was named Corvias Patriot League Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday, following a fantastic outing over the weekend at Navy.
The right-hander was impressive on the nationally televised stage, helping Bucknell clinch a spot in the upcoming Patriot League Tournament. Van Hoose tossed his third complete game of the season, going 7.0 shutout innings, allowing just three hits while striking out seven in a 5-0 win.
This season, Van Hoose is 5-5 on the mound with a 2.57 ERA, second-best in the Patriot League. The junior has a league-high 84 strikeouts, tied with Eric Junge (1999) for the second-most strikeouts in a single-season in Bucknell history.
Against Patriot League opponents, the right-hander is 3-2 with a 1.87 ERA and 41 strikeouts.
Van Hoose is the second Bison pitcher to earn Patriot League weekly honors this season, joining senior Mike Castellani, a three-time recipient.
Bucknell finished its regular season 19-26 overall and 10-10 in the Patriot League, its most league wins since 2014. The Bison are the No. 4 seed in the tournament and will take on No. 1 seed Navy in a best-of-three semifinal series, scheduled for May 13-14.
