Women's Swimming and Diving Drops Home Meet to Lehigh

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell opened with a win in an exciting 200 medley relay and won five total events, but fell to Lehigh 166.5-133.5 in Patriot League women's swimming and diving action Saturday at Kinney Natatorium.
The meet opened with a 200 medley relay race that was decided by just over one-tenth of a second. Bucknell's Julie Byrne, Libby O'Hare, Julianna Foss, and Rachel Perry took first with a time of 1:47.52, while the runner-up team from Lehigh clocked in at 1:47.65.
Byrne and O'Hare were also two of Bucknell's four individual winners. Byrne took first in the 200 back, where she was followed by freshman Emma Hadley. O'Hare was the top swimmer in the 100 breast.
Hadley added a first-place showing on the day as the top finisher in the 100 back, while Byrne was the runner-up in the event.
Rounding out Bucknell's individual winners was Leah Bloodgood in the 200 breast.
Abby Merriman (500 free, 1000 free) and Foss (100 fly, 200 IM) registered runner-up finishes in two events apiece.
Despite the loss, Bucknell has won nine of the past 10 meets against Lehigh and holds a 28-10 lead in the all-time series.
Bucknell returns to Kinney Natatorium for a meet against West Virginia on Friday at 6 p.m.
