Bucknell Football Alumni Weekend Celebrates 20-Year Anniversary of 1996 PL Title

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The fifth annual Bucknell Football Alumni Weekend was held in conjunction with this past Saturday's home opener against Cornell. Nearly 100 Bison football alumni attended, including more than 30 that were part of the 1996 Bucknell squad that won the only Patriot League title in school history.
The alumni watched the Bucknell-Cornell contest from the sideline of Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium, and the 1996 team members in attendance were recognized on the field during a halftime ceremony. In addition to the former student-athletes, Carol Gadd-Marshall, the wife of the late Bison coach Tom Gadd, returned to Lewisburg from her current home in Minnesota.
Bucknell's 1996 team finished with a 6-5 overall record and was 4-1 in Patriot League play. The Bison won five of their final six games that season, including a thrilling 28-27 overtime victory over Colgate in the season finale that clinched the program's first championship in 31 years.
Bucknell Football Alumni Weekend featured a pregame tailgate for the alums and a postgame reception in downtown Lewisburg at Brendan's Towne Tavern Shanty. The weekend concluded on Sunday morning with a brunch in the Langone Center on campus.
