NEW YORK, N.Y. – Stephanie Dressler tallied two goals, including the game-winner 8:42 into overtime, and tallied one assist in Bucknell's 3-2 victory over Quinnipiac on Sunday at Columbia University. The Bison improved to 4-3 on the season with their second win over the weekend, and upped their record to 2-0 in overtime games this season.
With the pair of scores, Dressler matched her career goal total in just one game. The junior opened the scoring 6:17 into the contest with a blast from the top of the circle. Estelle Palandjian and Amy Mucelli notched assists on the penalty corner.
Quinnipiac, which dropped to 1-7 overall, responded with the next two goals. Angie King scored on a penalty corner, and Angie Costanzo scored shortly after a penalty corner to help the Bobcats take a 2-1 lead into the half.
The score remained that way until Palandjian registered her third career goal with just 7:48 to play in regulation. Dressler tallied an assist on the play, as Palandjian re-directed a ball off her stick past the goalie. It was her first goal of the season.
Bucknell controlled the tempo in overtime, while Quinnipiac hurt itself with a green card at the 2:01 mark of the extra period and a yellow card at the 5:21 mark. Bison goalie Emily Finn made one of her seven saves in overtime.
Dressler's game-winning goal came on a penalty corner with senior Anna Wills on the assist. Bucknell finished the game with a 12-5 advantage in penalty corners.
Quinnipiac went with two different goalies in the game. Olivia Golini started and made one save while playing the first half. Hannah took the loss after playing the second half and overtime, stopping four of the six shots she faced. The Bobcats added a pair of defensive saves.
Emily Goodloe recorded a defensive save for Bucknell, which improved to 2-0 in neutral site games over the past two seasons. The Bison topped California in a game at Penn State last year.
Sunday's win over Quinnipiac was a near replica of Bucknell's victory over then-No. 12 Albany last weekend. In that game, freshman Brittany Willwerth scored the first goal and the game-winner in overtime. And like on Sunday, the Bison were down 2-1 late until sophomore Nicole Rupnik tied the score with five minutes to play in regulation.
Dressler had an outstanding weekend, which included a 2-1 win at Lehigh in the team's Patriot League opener. She assisted on a goal by Rupnik in the win over the Mountain Hawks.
The Bison will be back on the road for a game at Monmouth on Sunday, Sept. 25. The Hawks are 7-1 with their only loss coming to then-No. 19 Iowa.
