Swimming and Diving to Host 60th Anniversary Celebration in October

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell swimming and diving program is entering its 60th season of competition, and to commemorate the milestone a special alumni weekend event will be held on Oct. 14-15.
The event will begin on Friday, Oct. 14 with an informal social gathering from 8-11 p.m. at Brendan's Towne Tavern Shanty.
An array of events are planned for Saturday, Oct. 15, including a light breakfast and open swim in the morning, the current Bison men's and women's meet against Boston University and Richmond in the afternoon, a reception and social hour following the meet, and a dinner and program that evening.
During breaks in the meet, the first varsity men's swimming and diving team from the 1956-57 season will be honored, as will the first varsity women's team from the 1973-74 season.
The dinner will feature current head coach Dan Schinnerer, as well as Bucknell Hall-of-Famer Brad Tufts. Additionally, the team will honor Sandy Elion, who recently retired after 21 years on the Bison coaching staff.
