LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women's soccer forward Kendall Ham has been named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the league on Monday. Ham had a fantastic weekend for the Bison, combining to score five goals in the team's wins over Mount St. Mary's and Iona.
The junior recorded her second career hat-trick in the team's 5-0 blowout against The Mount Friday night at Emmitt Field. Ham's first goal came 8:40 into contest and proceeded to score two more in the second half.
Ham followed up Friday's performance with two more goals in Sunday's 8-0 win at Iona. The forward gave Bucknell a 3-0 advantage with a score in the 25th minute and scored once more in the 64th minute.
The Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year has recorded eight goals thus far in 2016, which ranks first in the conference and second overall in the country. She also ranks sixth in the country in goals per game (1.14) and 12th in points per game (2.29). After her outstanding weekend, Ham moved to eighth in goals (22) and 10th in points (48) on Bucknell's all-time lists.
Maddie Dano, last week's Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, and freshman Gabby Bair were named honorable mentions. Dano recorded a pair of assists in Friday's victory, while Bair scored a pair of goals in just her second collegiate game against the Gaels.
Bucknell is 6-0-1 thus far, the team's best start in program history. Offensively, six Bison, including Ham and Bair, have recorded at least two goals on the year. As a team, Bucknell ranks fourth in points per game (9), fifth in scoring offense (3.14) and seventh in total goals (22).
The Bison open league play Sunday with a championship game rematch at home against three-time defending champion Boston University. Game time is 1 p.m. and will broadcast on the Patriot Network.
