LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell football OL Julie'n Davenport (Paulsboro, N.J./Paulsboro) was named to the STATS FCS Preseason All-America First Team, it was announced Monday. A three-time All-Patriot League selection, Davenport was one of just two Patriot League players on the First Team along with Fordham's Chase Edmonds. Six total Patriot Leaguers were listed on the three All-America teams.
This is Davenport's second Preseason All-America citation this year as in mid-June he was named to the Athlon Sports Preseason FCS All-America Team.
A two-year team captain, Davenport is entering his fourth year as a starter at left tackle for the Bison. He is the only member of Bucknell's senior class to play in all 33 games over the last three years.
A Second Team All-Patriot League selection as a rookie in 2013, Davenport has been a First Team All-Patriot League choice each of the last two years. Last fall, he became the first Bison offensive lineman to be named First Team All-Patriot League in back-to-back years since Lucas Carlaw in 1998 and 1999. Davenport was a Preseason All-Patriot League selection prior to both the 2014 and 2015 campaigns.
Davenport was named a Second Team STATS FCS All-American following last season.
Davenport earned the team's Stuart M. Smith Award as its top newcomer in 2013, the Most Improved Offensive Player Award at the conclusion of 2015 spring practice, and he took home the John Campana Award as the team's outstanding offensive lineman last year.
Davenport is expected to be one of Bucknell's representatives at Patriot League Football Media Day on Tuesday. The Bison team reports to campus for preseason camp on Wednesday, and preseason practice kicks off Thursday at 11 a.m. Bucknell's first game of 2016 is Sept. 3 at Marist. The home opener is Sept. 17 against Cornell.
