LEWISBURG, Pa. – Claire Maree O'Bryan, a recent Bucknell graduate and a key player on last year's record-setting women's basketball team, has joined the Sunshine Coast Rip in the Queensland Basketball League.
O'Bryan, an Australian native, has played two games for the Rip, averaging 14.0 points, 3.5 assists and 1.0 blocks. She made her debut in a loss to the Ipswich Force, tallying 12 points and three assists.
The Rip, which is in its first season in the Queensland Basketball League, was 0-6 when O'Bryan joined the team, but posted its first victory behind a stellar performance from the former Bison player in just her second game with the team. She led the squad to a 65-57 win over the Toowoomba Mountaineers with 16 points, four assists and four rebounds.
O'Bryan was a team captain and four-year letterwinner for the Bison. She was one of Bucknell's top threats from the outside, finishing with 60 3-pointers in her 77 career games. As a junior, she averaged 7.1 points and 3.9 rebounds, and then battled through injuries as a senior to help lead the Bison to a share of the Patriot League regular season title and a program-record 25 wins.
O'Bryan made the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in each of her four seasons with the Bison. She graduated in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in neuroscience.
