LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Bucknell men's lacrosse team placed 25 student-athletes on the 2016 Patriot League Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll on Thursday. In the midst of a 10-5 season that ended in overtime in the Patriot League Tournament semifinals, the Bison squad combined for a stellar 3.31 team grade-point average during the spring semester.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's winter or spring championship sports.
Seventeen of Bucknell's 25 honorees also made the Dean's List with a GPA of 3.50 or better. Sophomore Jake Dunlop and freshman Reed Malas led the squad at 3.91. Seniors Shane Fee, Brock Ghelfi and Zach Henkhaus all made the Honor Roll for the fourth year in a row, a feat shared by only three other student-athletes around the rest of the Patriot League.
Four of Bucknell's All-Patriot League selections -- Will Sands, Alex Spring, Christian Klipstein and Matt Gilray -- also made the Honor Roll, as did both of the team's Patriot League All-Academic Team selections in Spring and Mike Schiappa.
This continues an impressive track record in the classroom for the Bison men's lacrosse team. A year ago, the Bison set a league record with 29 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selections.
