LEWISBURG, Pa. – Two members of Bucknell swimming and diving were honored on Tuesday by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), as senior Emma Levendoski and junior Louis Behnen earned Honorable Mention Scholar All-America status. The individual recognition is in addition to the team award the Bison received last week.
To be selected to the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, swimmers and divers must have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and have participated in their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Honorable Mention selections have similarly achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard or competed at their respective diving qualifying meets.
Levendoski, who as a junior became Bucknell's first swimmer to qualify for the NCAA Division I Championships, added on to her impressive resume during her senior season. She put the finishing touches on an outstanding career by sweeping the two backstroke events at the Patriot League Championships for the fourth straight season. No other swimmer in league history had won both events at the league's championship meet more than twice. At the conclusion of the season, she was the recipient of Bucknell's Christy Mathewson Award, given to the top student-athlete in the senior class.
Levendoski posted a 3.50 GPA during the spring semester. The animal behavior major concluded her career with two Scholar All-America honors from the CSCAA and was a two-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Behnen earned First Team All-Patriot League honors for the third straight season thanks to top-four finishes in the 1,650 free, 400 IM and 500 free at the league's championship meet. He is now a two-time Scholar-America recipient, tacking on this year's award to the one he earned as a freshman.
A double major in economics and political science, Behnen posted a 3.75 GPA during the spring semester. He is a two-time Academic All-Patriot League selection and a three-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
