Former Bison Standout Jackson Place Named to MLL All-Star Team

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Jackson Place, a 2014 Bucknell graduate and an Honorable Mention All-America defenseman for the Bison men's lacrosse team, has been named to this year's Major League Lacrosse All-Star Team. The game will be held on July 9 at Titan Stadium in Fullerton, California, and it will be televised live on CBS Sports Network at 7 p.m. EDT.
Place, who is in his third season with the Ohio Machine, was one of 10 defensemen selected to the All-Star Game. He was recently named the MLL Defensive Player of the Week after holding the league's leading scorer and fellow All-Star Will Manny of the Boston Cannons scoreless.
Place was a four-year starting defenseman for the Bison. As a senior in 2014 he earned First Team All-Patriot League honors and was selected to play in the North-South All-Star Game. He also earned Honorable Mention All-America honors that year while garnering a spot on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Place earned the Lee S. “Bud” Ranck Memorial Award at the Bison Club Senior Recognition Dinner. A veteran of more than 60 career games, Place ranked in the top 25 nationally in caused turnovers per game in each of his final three years at Bucknell. His 2.71 caused turnovers per game as a senior ranked second in the country.
Place led the Bison with 38 caused turnovers in 2014 and his 42 ground balls were second on the squad. He finished his career with 101 caused turnovers and 127 ground balls.
As a senior, Place was selected by the Machine in the fourth round of the MLL Collegiate Draft, and he has been a regular in the team's lineup in each of the past two seasons.
The final two MLL All-Star teams will be chosen the night prior to the game (July 8) in a draft decided by this year's " MLL Ultimate Fan Fantasy" contest winners.
