Three Bison Throwers Earn All-East Honors on Second Day of ECAC Championships

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Meg Sangimino, Dayna Simone and Rebecca Skovira earned All-East honors in the javelin Saturday to lead the Bucknell women's track and field team on the second day of the ECAC Championships at Princeton's Weaver Stadium. The Bison now have five All-East honorees through the first two days of competition.
The trio, who each own a top-10 program mark in the event, took three of the top eight spots. Sangimino took fifth in the event with a toss of 145-9. Simone, who won the silver in the event at the Patriot League Championships, finished sixth with a heave of 144-11, while Skovira placed eighth with a throw of 140-1.
Sarah Chandler and Christine Bendzinski advanced past the preliminaries of the 1,500-meter run to compete in Sunday's final. Chandler, the Patriot League champion in the race, placed third in the prelims with a time of 4:33.69. Bendzinski, who owns the school record in the event, finished fifth with a time 4:30.15.
Although she didn't qualify for the finals of the 200-meter dash, Jess Bridle broke her own school record in the preliminary round with a time of 24.42.
