LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior Kate Scott won the 10,000-meter title on Friday as the Bucknell track and field program completed the first of three days of competition at the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Championships at Princeton University's Weaver Stadium.
Scott, the Patriot League champion in the event, earned All-East honors with a time of 35:15.07. Her time is a new personal-record and the second-fastest time in school history. Scott is just the second individual champion in program history and the first since 2004.
Deanna Godby also received All-East status in the event, taking seventh with a time of 36.19.40. Her time is also a personal-record and a top-10 program mark.
Stephanie Easse and Sophia Nnadi competed in the discus to round out the Bison women participating on the first day of action.
On the men's side, Luke Giugliano placed 15th out of 38 in the 5,000 while Peter Murray and Will Bordash competed in the race. Ross Pirnie participated in the steeplechase, while Andrew Kirna ran in the 10,000.
"The women's 10k was definitely the highlight of the evening," said head coach Kevin Donner. "Kate Scott is our first individual event winner since 2004 and Deanna Godby really closed out her career nicely by scoring and earning All-East."
Bucknell resumes action tomorrow with the men's hammer throw at 10 a.m.
