ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Bucknell women's golf team opened with a 332 in cold, windy conditions at the weather-delayed Navy Spring Invitational on Saturday. Katie Childers led the team with an 80, and the Bison are in fourth place in the four-team event, two back of host Navy.
Lehigh and Georgetown both posted 324, followed by Navy at 330 and Bucknell at 332. The best score of the day was a 77 from Navy's Christine Walker. Georgetown's Christine Schmidt, and Lehigh's Nicole Feierberg and Elizabeth McGarrigle all shot 79, and those were the only sub-80 rounds of the day in the challenging playing conditions.
Tee times were delayed nearly three hours due to the wintery weather that is hounding much of the East Coast this week.
Childers sits in sole possession of fifth place, while Emily Larson and Lindsay Dodovich are tied for seventh after posting 82s. Jen Lee carded an 88, followed by Eunbbie Kim with a 91.
The second and final round will begin Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
