WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Bucknell women's track and field team wrapped up a great performance at the Colonial Relays with a second-place finish on Saturday. The Bison scored 81.5 points, while Rutgers took the title at the 44-team meet with 92.
“Our women had a real nice meet,” says head coach Kevin Donner. “We were very close to winning and had a few areas that could have been better. However, we learned a lot about the team this week which will help with decision making over the next weeks.”
The Bison scored in three relays on the day. The quarter of Allison Sharkey, Jen Silvestri, Laura Papili and Jess Bridle competed in the 4x400-meter relay, taking second in a field of 32 teams. Their time of 3:46.96 not only meets the ECAC requirement, but also is the third-fastest effort in school history.
Kate Scott, Elizabeth Sheprow, Sarah Chandler and Christine Bendzinski each ran legs in the 4x1500 relay, taking third in a field of 21 teams. The Bison added points with an eighth-place showing in the 4x100 relay, which was ran by Kafilat Oladiran, Reiner, Kimberley Lapszynski and Bridle.
In the throwing events, Abigail Brundage and Sophia Nnadi scored for the Bison in the shot put, while Stephanie Easse scored in the discus.
Carly Reiner took third in the triple jump, posting a leap of 36-9 ¾.
Bucknell returns to action Apr. 9 to compete at the Mason Spring Invitational, hosted by George Mason.
