Field Hockey Posts Fourth Highest GPA in the Nation

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell field hockey team was recently tabbed as a recipient of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Team Award after recording the fourth-highest team GPA in the nation. The Bison had four players earn Division I Scholar of Distinction accolades and had 19 players make the National Academic Squad while posting a team GPA of 3.55.
Division I Scholar of Distinction status is given to players who earn at least a 3.9 GPA during the fall semester. Seniors Abby Watson and Emily Hitchings and freshmen Claire Lesher and Nicole Rupnik all received the honor.
American (3.65), Quinnipiac (3.61) and Harvard (3.58) were the only three teams in the nation to record a higher GPA than Bucknell. The Bison's 19 players on the National Academic Squad ranked second in the nation, trailing only American with 20. A player must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher throught the 2015-16 fall semester to receive the award.
Watson, Hitchings and junior Anna Wills were all named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team at the end of the regular season.
