Women's Water Polo Wins Second in a Row, Defeats C-M-S 13-7

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Colleen Barron and Hannah Sunday scored three goals apiece and Bucknell led by as many as seven goals in the second half on its way to a 13-7 victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Wednesday. It was the second straight win for the Bison, who are now 3-2 on the spring break trip to California and 11-10 overall this season. The Athenas fell to 2-13 on the year.
Bucknell scored its most goals since defeating George Washington 15-5 a week-and-a-half ago. Sarah Mooney and Eleanor Marrs added two goals apiece as four Bison had multi-goal outings. Marrs chipped in three assists and now has a career-high 87 points this season.
Barron and Kendyl Johnson converted penalty shots for Bucknell, which led by an 8-1 score early in the second half. The Bison held a 7-1 edge at halftime as it held the Athenas without a goal for more than 12 minutes at one point.
Manuela Herrera started in goal for Bucknell and posted three saves while allowing just one goal. Haley Derrod played in cage the second half and had two saves.
Ellen Perfect led Claremont-Mudd-Scripps with three goals, all in the third quarter.
Bucknell will wrap up its California trip on Thursday with a 10 p.m. (Eastern) game at No. 21 Long Beach State.
