Slagus Named PL Rookie of the Week for the Fourth Time

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell freshman Kaitlyn Slagus was named the Lids Team Sports Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Monday, receiving the award for a league-high fourth time this season. She receives the honor after helping the Bison set the program record for wins in a season with victories over Lafayette and Navy last week.
Slagus opened the week by stuffing the stat sheet in a 69-55 win over Lafayette at Sojka Pavilion. The forward finished with 12 points, five rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks. She then helped the Bison win their eighth straight game with 13 points in a 64-52 victory over Navy. For the week she averaged 12.5 points on 10-of-17 shooting. She added averages of 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 blocks.
In addition to her three Rookie of the Week awards, Slagus has one Player of the Week honor this season. The Bison have won seven of a possible 16 weekly rookie awards this year. Kyi English has received the honor twice, while Kate Walker picked up the accolade once.
The Bison (22-6, 16-1 PL) close their season with a game at Lafayette on Wednesday. They can clinch at least a share of the Patriot League regular season title with a win.
