
Women's Water Polo Opens Bison Invitational With 13-7 Win Over George Washington

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Eleanor Marrs tallied five points to lead the Bucknell women's water polo team to a 13-7 victory over George Washington in the opening contest of the Bucknell Invitational at Kinney Natatorium. It was the first of four games this weekend for the Bison, who are hosting the two-day event.
Seven different Bucknell (5-4) players scored goals, while five dished out at least one assist. Hannah Sunday (2 goals), Tegan Stanbach (2), Shyla Lintz (2) and Marta Considine (2) joined Marrs by posting multi-goal outings.
Manuela Herrera got the start in goal, posting five saves in the victory.
The Bison were able to capitalize on their six-on-five opportunities, scoring five goals in seven chances. Bucknell also connected on both of its penalty-shots in the contest.
George Washington was unable to take advantage of its six-on-five chances, scoring one goal in five tries.
Bucknell led George Washington by an 8-3 margin at halftime, but saw its lead shrink in the third period, as the Colonials outscored the Bison 4-1 in the frame.
The Bison seized control in the final period, scoring four-straight goals to clinch the 13-7 win.
Bucknell concludes today's action with a contest against Gannon. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
