Men's Swimming and Diving in Seventh After Day One of ECAC Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Back at Navy's Lejeune Hall for a second straight championship meet, the Bucknell men's swimming and diving team opened the ECAC Championships with three individuals and two relays scoring points. The event will continue on Saturday and wraps up on Sunday.
The Bison sit in seventh place out of 19 teams with 87 points after one day of competition. The Patriot League has three teams in the top 10, as league champion Navy leads with 209 points and Army West Point is second with 149.
Jack Robinson was Bucknell's top swimmer in the 200 IM while also swimming the seventh fastest time in school history. He touched the wall in 1:50.88 to take fifth out of 46 swimmers. Mitch Buccalo also scored points in the event for the Bison with a 15th-place finish.
Bucknell's other individual point scorers were a pair of divers. Tyler Wenzel led the way, taking seventh in the 3-meter diving event. The senior had his best score of the day in the preliminaries with a tally of 241.75. Patrick Alvermann placed ninth in the event.
The top relay of the day for the Bison was made up of Chris Devlin, Chadd Cummings, Kyle Bloom and Robinson. The group took sixth in the 400 medley relay in 3:21.18. That ties them for 10th in the Bucknell record book.
Taking seventh in the 200 free relay was the foursome of Steve Grune, Bloom, Jack Rogers and Tom Gannon. They finished the race in 1:24.59.
