LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's swimming and diving team received four All-Patriot League selections, which were announced by the conference on Wednesday. Junior Louis Behnen and sophomore Chris Devlin were named to the First Team, while junior Jack Robinson and senior Tyler Wenzel made the Second Team.
Individuals who win events at the Patriot League Swimming & Diving Championships automatically qualify for the All-League First Team, while runner-up finishers are guaranteed a spot on the Second Team. Both teams are back-filled by points, meaning a member on the Second Team can move up to the First Team if they accumulated enough points during the meet. Only individual points count.
Behnen has earned First Team status in each of his first three seasons with the Bison. At this year's Patriot League Championships, he scored 46 points behind a third-place finish in the 1,650 free and fourth-place finishes in the 400 IM and 500 free. He was also a part of the runner-up 800 free relay and the fourth-place 400 free relay.
Behnen was named the Patriot League Swimmer of the Week after winning two events in a meet against Columbia earlier this season. It was the second weekly honor of his career.
In just his second season at Bucknell, Devlin was dominant at the Patriot League Championships, earning the program's first Swimmer of the Meet award since 1993. He won both the 200 back and 400 IM with meet and school records and added a fourth-place finish in the 200 IM. He set a third individual school record while swimming the 100 back portion of the 400 medley relay, which also set a school record.
Including the 400 medley relay, Devlin was a part of four relays that posted top-five finishes. The others were the 200 medley relay, the 400 free relay and the 800 free relay. Devlin has now won major awards in each of his first two Patriot League Championships, adding the Swimmer of the Meet to his Rookie of the Meet award he won as a freshman.
Robinson was a major point scorer while helping the Bison finish fourth at the Patriot League Championships. He tallied 43 points individually, paced by a third-place finish in the 100 back. He added a fourth-place showing in the 200 back and was seventh in the 200 free.
Robinson, who has been named to the Second Team in back-to- back seasons, was also a contributor in four relays that finished in the top five, including the runner-up 800 free relay. He was also a part of the 200 free relay, 400 free relay and 400 medley relay.
Wenzel received three Patriot League Diver of the Week honors during the season and wrapped up his career with the Second Team All-Patriot League nod. He scored 29 points at the championship meet, scoring 15 with a fourth-place finish on the 1-meter board and 14 points with a fifth-place showing on the 3-meter board.
The Bison return to action when they make another trip to Navy's Lejeune Hall for the ECAC Championships on Friday-Sunday. Led by Devlin's tit.e in the 200 back, the Bison finished eighth at the event last season.
