OT Goals by Marrs Lift Women's Water Polo to OT Win Over Iona

PRINCETON, N.J. – Eleanor Marrs scored two of her team-high three goals in overtime to help the No. 25 Bucknell women's water polo team to an 11-10 victory over Iona Saturday at the Princeton Invitational. Earlier in the day the Bison lost to No. 19 Wagner by a 14-6 margin.
The victory over Iona was Bucknell's (2-4) first overtime win since 2010. The score was tied 8-8 entering overtime. The teams alternated goals in the extra periods with Tegan Stanbach and Marrs tallying three total goals for the Bison.
The game was close throughout as neither team led by more than one goal the entire 38 minutes. Bucknell now owns a 7-6 advantage in the all-time series.
Emily Konishi, Colleen Barron and Hannah Sunday scored two goals apiece for the Bison in the victory. Sunday also drew a season-high eight ejections, while Marrs dished out a team-high three assists.
Earlier in the day Bucknell lost for a second straight game to nationally ranked Wagner. Marrs and Marta Considine both had two goals and one assist in the contest.
The Seahawks were led by five goals apiece from Lily Doerfler and Jess Lundgren.
Bucknell will wrap up play at the Princeton Invitational Sunday with games against Cal Lutheran (8:30 a.m.) and Villanova (2:30 p.m.).
