LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell men's lacrosse head coach Frank Fedorjaka announced the Bison's 2017 schedule on Thursday. The slate features six home games at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium, including three in a row in February. Eleven of the campaign's 13 games will take place on Saturdays.
Bucknell, which finished a strong 10-5 last year and advanced to the semifinals of the Patriot League Tournament, will begin the 2017 season on the road Feb. 4 at Delaware. This will be the sixth consecutive years the Bison and Blue Hens have squared off with Bucknell winning three of the last four meetings.
The Bison then open a three-game homestand on Feb. 11 against Bryant. They will host Fairfield (Feb. 18) and open Patriot League play against Colgate (Feb. 25) to round out the stretch of home contests.
A trip to 2016 Patriot League regular-season champion Navy (March 4) opens the month of March. Bucknell will return home to host Holy Cross on March 11 before heading back on the road for contests at Villanova (March 14) and Boston U. (March 18).
The final two home games of the regular season will take place on back-to-back Saturdays when the Bison host NCAA participant Loyola (Md.) on March 25 and Army West Point on April 1. The game against the Black Knights will be Senior Day at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
The season concludes with three consecutive road games. The Bison will play a non-conference contest at Mount St. Mary's on April 8, followed by games at Patriot League foes Lafayette (April 15) and Lehigh (April 21).
This year's Patriot League Tournament will feature a similar format to recent years. The top six teams in the league qualify for the postseason with a quarterfinal round taking place on Tuesday, April 25. The top seed then hosts the semifinals (April 28) and final (April 30). The winner of the Patriot League Tournament receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
