SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Competing on the road against a Big East opponent didn't slow down Bucknell's top swimmers as junior Chris Devlin and senior Louis Behnen combined for five individual wins in the Bison men's meet at Seton Hall on Sunday at Imperatore Natatorium. The Pirates improved to 5-1 with a 171-112 win, dropping the Bison to 0-2.
Devlin was a three-event winner for Bucknell, giving him six first-place finishes over the team's two scored meets this season. He won both backstroke events for the second straight meet, clocking in at 51.29 in the 100 back and 1:50.85 in the 200 back. Devlin has won the 200 back seven straight times dating back to last season, including the 2016 Patriot League Championships.
Devlin added a victory in the 200 IM, finishing in 1:54.89. Bucknell's Matt McGoey was the runner-up.
Behnen won the 500 free and 1,000 free for the second straight meet, duplicating his performance against Boston University two weeks ago. He touched the wall in 4:38.83 in the 500 free and 9:38.40 in the 1,000 free. Denver Freeman recorded a third-place finish for the Bison in the 500 free.
McGoey, a freshman, added a third-place finish in the 50 free.
The Bison notched a first-place showing in the 400 free relay. Behnen led off the race, and was followed by Kyle Bloom, Jack Rogers, and Jack Robinson. The group registered a time of 3:14.55.
Bucknell has a short week before traveling to Annapolis, Maryland on Saturday for a quad meet against Navy, American, and Lafayette. The meet is scheduled for a noon start at Lejeune Hall.
