LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's swimming and diving team wraps up its regular season schedule at the six-team Navy Invite on Saturday in Lejeune Hall. The unscored meet is split into two sessions, with the first beginning at noon and the second beginning 30 minutes after the completion of the first session.
Joining the Bison at the meet will be American, Lafayette, Loyola (Md.), Seton Hall and Shippensburg. Nine men's events will be contested in each session, while a swimmer may compete in three individual events in each session and in eight total events on the day.
With the weather forcing a cancellation of Bucknell's meet at Lehigh this past weekend, it will have been two weeks since the Bison last competed. The Bison dropped to 3-5 with a loss to a solid Columbia team on Jan. 17.
Senior Tyler Wenzel had a standout performance for Bucknell against Columbia. In the final home meet of his career, Wenzel posted a score of 303.70 in the 3-meter dive, good enough for second in program history. Junior Louis Behnen also had an outstanding meet, earning Patriot League Swimmer of the Week honors after winning the 200 free and 500 free. It was the second weekly award of Behnen's career.
Bucknell last competed in the Navy Invite in 2014. Behnen was one of two winners on the day for the Bison, taking first in the 500 free. Steve Grune was on the 200 medley relay that finished second.
Saturday will be the final tune-up for the Bison as they prepare for the Patriot League Championships, which will also be held at Navy's Lejeune Hall. The four-day conference meet will be held from Feb. 17-20.
