LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell field hockey team is home for a pair of games this weekend, The Bison will host Colgate for a Patriot League matchup on Saturday at 11 a.m. and Saint Joseph's for a non-conference game on Sunday at 3 p.m. Both contests will be shown free of charge on the Patriot League Network.
Bucknell is 3-6 overall after a 2-1 loss at Lock Haven on Tuesday. Going up against the best defense in the Atlantic 10, the Bison extended their streak of games with at least one goal to 14 dating back to last season. Senior Kiersten Sydnor scored the lone goal, her third of the season.
The Bison are 1-0 in Patriot League play with a 4-2 win over Lehigh last weekend. They have won seven straight regular season conference games, the longest active streak in the league. They have outscored their opponents 24-7 during that stretch.
Included in that streak of conference wins was a 5-1 victory over Colgate last season. Current Bison players Amy Mucelli, Emma Fitzgerald, Anna Wills and Kayla Sullivan all had goals in the victory.
Wills has three goals this season, sharing the team lead with Sydnor. Fitzgerald and Stephanie Dressler share the top spot in assists with two apiece.
vs. Colgate | Saturday, 11 a.m. | Live Stats | Watch Live
Colgate has struggled on its way to an 0-10 overall record and 0-2 mark in the Patriot League this year, but is just one year removed from an appearance in the Patriot League Tournament. The Raiders' conference losses this season have come via a 4-1 score to Holy Cross and a 9-0 shutout to nationally-ranked Boston University. They are coming off a 6-1 loss to Rider in their most recent game. Due in large part to their aggressive style and defensive struggles this season, Maria Krull leads the Patriot League with 11.78 saves per game, but the Raiders are allowing a league-high 4.70 goals per game.
Bucknell holds a 29-10-3 lead in the all-time series, including a 2-0 win in the semifinals of last year's Patriot League Tournament. The Bison are undefeated (8-0) against the Raiders since Jeremy Cook took over the program in 2008, out-scoring their opponent 32-10 during that stretch.
vs. Saint Joseph's | Sunday, 3 p.m. | Live Stats | Watch Live
Saint Joseph's is 4-5 overall and 2-1 in the Atlantic 10 after back-to-back home wins over Lock Haven and Saint Louis. The Hawks have yet to win on the road this season, posting a record of 0-4. They are the top scoring team in the conference at 2.89 goals per game, including six goals off corners. Anna Willocks leads the team with 17 points on seven goals and three assists.
Bucknell leads the all-time series 2-1, including a 4-0 shutout on the road last season. Saint Joseph's win came via a 7-3 score at Temple in 2010.
