LEWISBURG, Pa. – Playing a nationally-ranked opponent for the second time in six days, the Bucknell field hockey team fell 5-1 to No. 20 Princeton on Saturday at Graham Field. The Tigers were able to avenge a loss against the Bison last season when the former was ranked 14th in the country.
Nicole Catalino scored a pair of goals to help Princeton improve to 1-2 on the season. The Tigers, who lost to two teams ranked in the top 10 in the nation to open the season, also received goals from Ryan McCarthy, Ellen Dobrijevic and Cat Caro. Assisting on the goals were Danielle Duseau, Hailey Reeves, Sophia Tometta and Cat Caro.
Bucknell trailed 4-0 after the half, but matched Princeton's one goal in the second half. Kayla Sullivan converted on a penalty stroke for her first goal of the season. The score cut the Tigers' lead to 4-1 with just under 26 minute remaining in the game.
Anya Gersoff made one save to notch her first win of the season for Princeton. Bucknell's Shannon Keen had a busy day, stopping seven of the 12 shots on goal she faced.
The Bison travel to University Park on Sunday to play a neutral-site game with California. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Penn State Field Hockey Complex.
