
Men's Water Polo Opens Second Day of Invitational with 14-3 Win Over Penn State Behrend

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Nate Hunter, Stefan Aleksic, Ratimir Babic and Johnathan Coleman scored two goals apiece to lead the No. 17 Bucknell men's water polo team to an easy 14-3 win over Penn State Behrend Saturday afternoon at Kinney Natatorium. It was the second of five games at this weekend's Bison Invitational for Bucknell, which won its second consecutive game and improved to 4-2 this year.
The Bison, who defeated No. 13 Brown on Friday, will play later Saturday afternoon (4:30 p.m.) against Fordham.
Bucknell, which is now 7-0 all-time against the Lions, scored four times in just over a minute in the first quarter and built an early 6-0 lead before coasting to the victory. The Bison reserves played much of the final three quarters.
It was the first game of the weekend for Penn State Behrend, which will play Toronto at 8:15 p.m. on Saturday.
Bucknell posted a season-high 17 steals in the contest, including 13 in the first half. Jedd Thayer registered a team-high four steals, while five other players had two apiece.
Patrick McKenzie got his first start of the season in goal for the Bison and he posted a career-high 10 saves.
In addition to playing Fordham later on Saturday, the Bison will also face Toronto (8 a.m.) and Washington & Jefferson (1 p.m.) on Sunday to wrap up the weekend.
