Bison Men Add IC4A Qualifiers at Swarthmore Meet

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Bucknell men's track and field team added two IC4A qualifiers while competing at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier on Monday at Clothier Field. Zachary Williams made the postseason event in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, while Andrew Garcia-Garrison did the same in the 800-meter run.
Williams finished fourth out of 27 runners in the steeplechase with a time of 9:11.16. Garcia-Garrison was fifth out of 87 runners in the 800m. His time of 1:50.99 is the sixth fastest in Bucknell history.
Kevin Tapper brought home the team's lone individual title on the day, taking first out of 10 athletes in the triple jump with a leap of 48-3 ½. He also took eight out of 36 competitors in the 100-meter dash, winning his heat with a time of 11.20.
Mark Stafurik paced the Bison throwers with three top-10 finishes, taking fourth in the hammer, sixth in the discus and seventh in the shot put. Jack Fellows had two top-five finishes, taking third in the shot put and fifth in the hammer throw. Pat Mulrooney was the runner-up out of 15 in the javelin with a throw of 195-3 ¾.
Bucknell will next compete in the IC4A Championships, which will be held in Princeton, New Jersey on May 15-17.
