LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell field hockey had two award recipients at the University's annual Senior Athletics Awards Banquet on Tuesday. Kelsey Mucelli was named the winner of the Bradley N. Tufts Award, while Liz Wills received the Ronald J. “Pete” Pedrick Award.
The Bradley N. Tufts Award is presented in recognition of exceptional athletic achievement and contributions to Bucknell athletics. Mucelli fits that description perfectly. A three-time unanimous First Team All-Patriot League selection as a midfielder, she helped guide the team to new heights during her time at Bucknell. She led the team this season and tied for the conference lead with seven assists, giving her 20 for her career, which ranks sixth on the program's all-time list.
Mucelli was tabbed as an All-Mideast Region honoree following the season. She was also selected to play in the NFHCA Senior Game.
The Ronald J. “Pete” Pedrick Award is presented in recognition of demonstrated improvement and special contributions to Bucknell athletics over a four-year period. Wills was selected to the All-Mideast Region team after an outstanding season both offensively and defensively. She tied for second in the conference in both points with 20 and goals with eight. Three of her goals were game-winners, which tied for the most in the league. Both Mucelli and Wills played key roles in the defensive effort that resulted in eight shutouts and the Patriot League's lowest goals against average (1.41).
Wills' list of awards this season also included First Team All-Patriot League honors, Academic All-Patriot League accolades, two conference Defensive Player of the Week awards and one for Offensive Player of the Week.
