Garcia-Garrison Sets Bucknell's Outdoor Mile Record

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Andrew Garcia-Garrison will leave Bucknell as the record holder in both the indoor and outdoor record holder in the mile run. The senior already held the best time in the indoor mile, and now has the fastest time during the outdoor season following his performance at the 121st Penn Relays on Saturday.
The only collegiate runner in a field of some of the top runners in the country, Garcia-Garrison took sixth among 15 runners with a time of 4:02.72. That easily beat a 41-year old record, which was set by Frank Carroll with a time of 4:08.14 in 1974.
Bison Win 14 Events at Bloomsburg
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Bucknell won 14 events while competing at Bloomsburg's Maroon and Gold Meet, including 12 individual titles and two relays.
Joseph Breen and Matt Deysher led the way for the Bison, winning two events apiece. Breen was the champion in the shot put and discus. His throw of 160-0 in the discus is the ninth best in Bucknell history and the longest for the team this season. Deysher's titles came in the 110- and 400-meter hurdles.
Vincent Pini represented the Bucknell sprinters with a win in the 200-meter dash. He topped a field of 13 with a time of 22.33.
The Bison middle-distance and distance runners posted four victories on the day. The titles were won by Alex Jagelsky (800m), Kyle Adams (1,500m), Glen Williams (5,000m) and Ross Pirnie (3,000m steeplechase).
The final three wins for Bucknell came in field events. Maxwell Prizant cleared 14-5 ¼ to take the title in the pole vault, while Nicholas Lombardo and Sean Dougherty won the long jump and triple jump, respectively,
Mulrooney Wins at Shippensburg
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Pat Mulrooney bested a field of 39 competitors to win the javelin at Shippensburg's Paul Kaiser Classic.
Mulrooney took home the title with a throw of 187-8. That was over a foot better than the second-place finisher, Christian Dannibale, who competed unattached. Messiah took the next two spots.
