BOSTON – The Bucknell men's track and field team finished with seven All-East selections on its way to a fourth-place finish at the IC4A Championships on Sunday at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center. The Bison tallied 41 points for its highest finish in program history.
Senior Andrew Garcia-Garrison added another title to his already illustrious college career. A four-event winner at the Patriot League Championships this season, Garcia-Garrison's win at the IC4A meet came in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:25.36. Junior John Westwood also earned All-East status in the event with a fourth-place finish.
Senior Christian Lupica closed the indoor season with a runner-up finish in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 7.96 seconds. Monmouth's Jalen Walker won the event with a time of 7.90
Senior Kevin Tapper and Anthony Menza rounded out Bucknell's All-East honorees on Sunday, while freshman Nicholas Lombardo earned the honors in the long jump on Saturday. Tapper was sixth in the 400m with a time of 47.99, while Menza took ran the 500m in 1:03.71 for an eighth-place finish.
The Bison 4x800 relay team notched a runner-up finish with the second-fastest time in program history. Sophomore Jordan Jackson, senior Alex Jagelsky, junior Cole Conte, and sophomore Louis Tobias each ran a leg of the relay that posted a time of 7:30.92. Tobias opened with a 1:53.6, Jackson followed with a 1:54.2, Conte ran the third leg in 1:53.2, and Jagelsky anchored the relay with a split of 1:49.8.
“We had an incredible second day,” said Bucknell head coach Kevin Donner. “Tapper and Menza ran very tough in the 400 and 500, respectively. Garcia-Garrison, who had an outstanding indoor season, won the 1,000 in a tactical race, with Westwood not far behind. Lupica finishing second in the hurdles was nice considering he ran the 400 yesterday, and our 4x800 ran an awesome race, almost winning despite being ranked seventh. It was a great day to be a Bison.”
