LEWISBURG, Pa. – Three members of the Bucknell women's swimming and diving team were recently named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team. Seniors Tara Boyle (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) and Lauren Perry (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) were honored for the third time in their collegiate careers, while sophomore Rachel Perry (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) was cited for the first time.
Boyle, a Second Team All-Patriot League selection and one of Bucknell's captains, was tied for 35th in points scored at the Patriot League Championships this season. The senior ranked third in three-meter diving with a score of 249.30, and ninth in one-meter diving with a 244.10. An eight-time scorer at the Patriot League Championships, Boyle holds the school record in the one-meter dive (276.90), which helped land her 2014 Diver of the Meet award. She is a three-time conference champion in that event.
Boyle has excelled in the classroom, owning a 3.86 GPA in her accounting and financial management major. A three-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member, she has made it on the Dean's List all seven semesters, and received the George V. McGee Investment Studies Endowment for demonstrating potential as a future professional in finance and investment. With her service involvement, Boyle performs 10 hours of community service each semester with the Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
Lauren Perry, another senior in accounting and financial management, scored 22 points at the Patriot League Championships. She placed in three different freestyle events – ninth in the 100 free, 11th in the 200 free and 10th in the 500 free.
A 12-time scorer in individual events at the conference championships, Perry holds the school record in the 100 free (50.86) and 200 free (1:49.13), along with top-10 performances in the 50 free, 500 free, and 100 fly. Perry has also been a vital part to the relay squads. She has been a part of the four-member team that holds the program record in the 800 free and the group from last week's championships that ranks second in the 400 free.
Perry is a three-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll as well and performs a comparable amount of community service with her sorority as Boyle. With a 3.86 GPA, she earned the Charles F. White Memorial Prize for Scholar-Athletes in 2013.
Rachel Perry, the younger sister of Lauren, placed twice at last month's Patriot League Championships. Her time of 55.95 in the 100 back was good for second, while she touched the wall 10th in the 200 back with a time of 2:02.15. Her 100 back prelims time and 200 back finals time were good for spots on the top-10 leaderboard at Bucknell. She has also been a regular swimmer in the 50 and 100 free events, and was one spot away from scoring in the championships at 50 free. Lastly, she was part of the 200 free relay that posted the sixth-best time in program history.
Like her sister, Rachel majors in accounting and financial management. She holds a perfect 4.00 GPA through three semesters and was a member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll as a rookie. Rachel also regularly performs community service as part of Alpha Chi Omega, and she received the President's Award for Distinguished Academic Achievement in the fall of 2014.
All three of the women earned highly-valued points for the team at the Patriot League Championship, and the squad finished second for the third year in a row.
