LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Freshman center Nana Foulland on Monday earned his fourth Lids Team Sports Patriot League Rookie of the Week honor of the season, and his second in as many weeks. Bucknell picked up a pair of home victories over Loyola and Boston University to clinch at least a share of the Patriot League regular season title, and Foulland averaged 16.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in the two wins.
In Wednesday's 61-50 verdict over Loyola, Foulland led the Bison with 16 points on 7-for-11 shooting, and he added six rebounds and four blocked shots to pace a defense that limited the Greyhounds to 34.0 percent shooting.
On Sunday, Foulland matched his career high with 17 points (6-9 FG) to go with four rebounds and a block in a 78-69 win over Boston University. It was Foulland's third 17-point performance of the season, all coming in Patriot League play.
Foulland is now averaging 9.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game on the season, and in Patriot League play those marks go up to 11.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per outing. He is also shooting 58.1 percent from the field against league competition.
All four of Foulland's Rookie of the Week awards have come since the start of Patriot League competition. Those are the most Rookie of the Week honors by a Bison since Kevin Bettencourt set a league record with nine citations in 2002-03.
Bucknell had not had any Rookie of the Week mentions since Cameron Ayers did it three times in 2010-11, but this season Foulland has captured the award four times and J.C. Show once. Freshman Foulland, Show, Stephen Brown and Zach Thomas are accounting for 33.9 percent of Bucknell's scoring this season.
Now 17-12 overall and 12-4 on the season, the Bison have won five straight games and 10 of their last 12. Bucknell travels to Lehigh on Wednesday at 7 p.m. before closing out the regular season at American on Saturday at noon. The Bison need one more win or one Colgate loss to clinch the No. 1 seed for the Patriot League Tournament.
