Haupt Leads Heptathlon After Day One of Bison Opener

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior Cody Haupt won two of four events Friday night to hold the lead in the heptathlon following the first day of completion at the season-opening Bison Opener at Gerhard Fieldhouse.
Haupt accumulated 2,758 points with three events left. Lock Haven's Tyler Burger is second with 2,709 points, while Bison junior Christopher D'Aliso is third with 2,603. Sophomore Adam Karl sits in fourth with 2,533 points.
Haupt had the night's top marks in the long jump (6.66m) and the shot put (12.92m). He was runner-up in the 60-meter dash, while D'Aliso placed second in the long jump. Karl was the runner-up in the high jump, clearing 1.91 meters.
Action resumes with the completion of the men's heptathlon at 8 a.m. The field events will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the running events get underway at 11 a.m.
