Women?s Soccer Falls In PL Championship Game, 1-0

BOSTON, Mass. – The Bucknell women's soccer season came to an end on Sunday with a 1-0 loss to top-seeded Boston University in the Patriot League Women's Championship game at Nickerson Field.
Chelsea Churchill found the back of the net for the Terriers in the 86th minute to dash Bucknell's chance at a Patriot League title. Churchill picked up a loose ball and sent a shot from 20 yards out to help Boston University earn its third consecutive conference championship.
The first half was a defensive battle, with each team turning away scoring opportunities. The Bison back line kept the sheet clean in the opening period, highlighted by a team block off a header from Dorr Varley-Barrett in the 26th minute.
Boston University survived a flurry of shots from the Bison in the first half, including a free kick from Karli Cirvoski in the 18th minute that required keeper Alyssa Parisi to knock the ball over the goal. Bucknell's best scoring opportunity came in the 31st minute with a shot from Riley Coopersmith that hit off the crossbar.
Boston University outshot the Bison 22-4, including a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. Jessica Ratner finished with 12 saves in the contest, while Parisi recorded two stops for the Terriers.
Ratner, Cirovski and Alexis Gannon were each named to the Patriot League All-Tournament team.
Bucknell finishes the season with an 11-6-3 record, while Boston University returns to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season.
