Men's Swimming and Diving in Fourth After First Day of Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bison men's swimming and diving team sits in fourth place among nine teams after the first of three days of competition at the Bucknell Invitational. The Bison had six top-10 finishers on the day while competing in their home pool at Kinney Natatorium.
Junior Louis Behnen was the top finisher for Bucknell on the first day. He took third among 51 swimmers in the 500 free with a time of 4:31.74. He finished just over a second after the first-place swimmer, Fordham senior Steve Sholdra. Behnen owns Bucknell's second-fastest time (4:24.50) in the event, which he recorded at last year's Patriot League Championships. Joining Behnen in the top 10 Friday was Denver Freeman in seventh.
Bucknell's 400 medley relay team took sixth in a field of 24, finishing in 3:22.86. The relay was made up of sophomore Chris Devlin, junior Sam Mackie, sophomore Triston Loux and junior Jack Robinson. The event was won by William & Mary.
The Bison 200 free relay team also finished in the top 10, as senior JT Nangle, senior Steve Grune, Loux and freshman Charlie McFarland posted a time of 1:24.87.
Grune added a top-10 finish individually, taking eighth in the 50 free with a time of 21.12. Devlin did the same with a 10th-place finish in the 200 IM.
Buffalo sits atop the team standings with 459 points, while William & Mary (402), Connecticut (312.5), Bucknell (243) and La Salle (230) round out the top five. Currently in sixth through ninth are Binghamton (144.5), Georgetown (142), Fordham (118) and Delaware (17).
Competition resumes with a round of prelims on Saturday at 10 a.m. The first event will be the 400 IM.
