Men's Swimming and Diving Sweeps Patriot League Weekly Awards

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's swimming and diving team swept the season's first edition of the Corvias Patriot League weekly awards, which were released by the conference on Monday. Junior Louis Behnen (Overland Park, Kan./Rockhurst) was selected as the Swimmer of the Week, while senior Tyler Wenzel (Telford, Pa./Souderton) was named the Diver of the Week.
Behnen picked up two individual wins and helped the Bison to a first-place finish in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:10.72 in the season opener against UMBC, the defending champions in the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association. The junior touched the wall first in the 400 I.M. at 4:02.83 and in the 200 free at 1:42.95. Behnen also competed in the 200 I.M., finishing fifth out of 10 swimmers.
Wenzel captured first place in both diving events in his first competition of the season. The senior scored 258.53 points in the 1-meter dive and 239.03 in the 3-meter dive to sweep the events.
The Bison will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 17 when they travel to Boston University for their Patriot League opener.
