LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's soccer team wraps up the Patriot League regular season against Army West Point on Saturday at noon at Emmitt Field, and the program will honor five seniors just prior to kickoff. The game will be streamed live on the Patriot League Network.
The Bison are 9-5-3 overall with a 5-1-2 mark in the Patriot League, and have locked up the No. 2 seed in the Patriot League Tournament with 17 points. Boston University (7-0-1) has clinched the top spot in the tournament with 22 points, while Navy (3-1-4) and Loyola (4-3-1) have clinched playoff berths with 13 points each. Each team will be in action on Saturday.
Army West Point (4-11-2, 2-4-2 PL) has much to play for on Saturday. Army is currently tied with Lehigh for the final playoff spot and a win would secure a berth. The squad can finish as high as fifth with a win, combined with a victory by Lafayette over Colgate. If Army and Bucknell play to a draw, Army would need Lehigh and American to tie to ensure a playoff spot.
Army is winless in its last five contests, including three straight losses. Last week, Army suffered losses to Colgate and league front-runner Boston University.
Katie Holder has registered five of the team's 15 goals, along with four assists, to lead the team in scoring with 14 points. Bailey Widman has recorded three goals, while Clare Shea has tallied a team-high three assists.
Bucknell clinched its postseason bid last week, following a 2-0 victory over Loyola on Wednesday and a 3-0 win at Lehigh on Saturday. The Bison are unbeaten in their last seven games, which ties a team-record.
The Bison have posted a program-best nine shutouts this season, including the last four games, which ties for a team-record. Jessica Ratner recorded 10 saves last week to earn Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week honors. The defense has not allowed a score in 389.50 consecutive minutes.
Kendall Ham continues to lead Bucknell in scoring with eight goals and two assists for 18 points. Alexis Gannon is second on the team with four goals and one assist for nine points. 14 other players have tallied a point for the Bison this season.
Bucknell has plenty to play for as well on Saturday, as they look to become the second team in program history to post an undefeated home record. The 2006 squad was the first to set the mark, going 6-0 at Emmitt Field.
Saturday's game will be a rematch of last season's Patriot League Tournament quarterfinal matchup. Cora Climo gave Bucknell a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute off a free kick while Jessie Ashworth posted four saves en route to the 2-1 victory. Bucknell is 13-17-2 all-time against Army.
Just prior to Saturday's game, Bucknell will recognize its five seniors: Jessie Ashworth, Lauren Dandie, Madison Loos, Danielle Piccirilli and Devan Schulte.
