LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's soccer team is unbeaten in their last seven games, thanks in part to the play of the Bison defense. The defense posted a pair of shutouts last week, helping the team clinch the No. 2 seed in the Patriot League Tournament. The defensive effort led to Jessica Ratner earning Corvias Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week honors, and senior co-captain Lauren Dandie being named 5th Quarter Fresh Bison Athlete of the Week.
Bucknell began the week with a 2-0 decision over Loyola on Wednesday night at Emmitt Field. The defense allowed just four shots on frame in the contest.
The Bison followed up their performance with a 3-0 victory at Lehigh on Saturday. Ratner finished with six stops in the win to cap off a six-point week and improve Bucknell to 9-5-3 overall and 5-1-2 in the Patriot League.
Bucknell's league-leading nine shutouts is a new single-season program record, previously set in 2008. The team's four straight shutouts ties a team-record set in 2002. The Bison have now held their opponents scoreless for 389:50 consecutive minutes. The school record for scoreless minutes is 446:26.
The Bison's seven-game unbeaten streak is tied for the longest in program history, previously set in 2006.
This is Ratner's second time this season earning Patriot League honors, and the third time in her career. Ratner marks the fifth instance that a Bucknell women's soccer player has earned league honors this season. Dandie is the first player to earn Bison Athlete of the Week honors this year.
Fellow senior and co-captain Madison Loos was a Patriot League honorable mention, scoring a goal in the team's win over the Greyhounds and picking up an assist at Lehigh.
Dandie, Loos, and the rest of the Bucknell seniors will play in their final home and regular season Patriot League contest on Halloween (Oct. 31) against Army West Point. Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m.
