LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell football sophomore safety Connor Golden (Bensalem, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) posted 13 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a pair of interceptions in a 21-14 loss at Army West Point on Saturday. For his efforts against the FBS Black Knights, Golden earned Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career. He was also cited by STATS.com as Honorable Mention National Defensive Player of the Week and by College Sporting News as a National All-Star.
Golden registered his second consecutive double-figure tackle outing and he became the first Bison player this season to post a multi-interception outing. His first interception came in the first quarter and was highlight-reel quality as it showed up on SportsCenter's Top 10 plays of the day.
Golden, who ranks fourth on Bucknell with 36 tackles this season, is averaging 10.3 stops per game over the last three outings. He is also the only Bison player with more than one interception this season.
A starter in nine games during his two-year career, Golden has 64 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and three interceptions in his 15 career games.
Golden is Bucknell's (3-3, 0-1 PL) second Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week this season, following Ben Richard on October 5.
The Bison will be back home this Saturday, Oct. 24, when they host Patriot League foe Georgetown in a 1 p.m. Homecoming contest at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
