LEWISBURG, Pa. - Talia Szatkowski couldn't have scored her first collegiate goal at a better time this season, as she helped the Bucknell women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory at American on Saturday, en route to being named Corvias Patriot League Rookie of the Week.
The freshman forward found the back of the net with just five seconds remaining in the first half to give the Bison the decisive score against the Eagles.
With the win, Bucknell improved to 7-5-3 overall, and is now in sole possession of second place in the conference with a 3-1-2 mark for 11 points.
Szatkowski is the first freshman since Jessica Ratner in 2013 to garner Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors and is the fourth Bucknell women's soccer player to earn league accolades this season.
Szatkowski has appeared in all 15 matches for the Bison this season, tallying one goal and two assists for four points.
The Bison face a critical week of conference games, beginning with Loyola on Wednesday at Emmitt Field. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
