Men's Swimming and Diving Drops PL Opener at Boston University

BOSTON, Mass. – Brian Phillips, Chris Devlin and Louis Behnen all won an individual event, but the Bucknell men's swimming and diving team dropped its Patriot League opener at Boston University 185-115 on Saturday at Competition Pool.
Behnen's title came in the 500 free, which he won in 4:37.70. He added a runner-up finish in the 200 free, where he was followed by Denver Freeman and Vincent Filippini in third and fourth. Behnen has won four individual events and one relay through two meets this season. He was rewarded with Patriot League Swimmer of the Week honors after the team's season-opening event.
Devlin won the 100 back in 51.47, edging Boston's Mun Hon Lee, who finished second with a time of 51.55. Devlin added a runner-up finish in the 200 back.
Phillips was a winner in the 1,000 free, besting Boston's Judson Balding by more than two seconds with a winning time of 9:47.96.
Tyler Wenzel took second in both diving events for the Bison, while Same Mackie was the runner-up in both the 100 breast and 200 breast. Filippini was second in the 100 free.
Bucknell returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 24, when it hosts Pittsburgh at Kinney Natatorium. The meet is scheduled for a noon start time.
