LEWISBURG, Pa. – Three points are up for grabs on Saturday when the Bucknell women's soccer team travels to D.C. for a league matchup at American. Saturday's game will be streamed live on the Patriot League Network.
Five teams in the Patriot League are separated by just one point in the standings. Bucknell is 2-1-2 in league play, and is tied with Army West Point for second place with eight points. The Bison are coming off a 0-0 draw against Navy, while Army West Point played to a 1-1 tie against American last weekend. Navy, Loyola and Colgate are all knotted with seven points apiece in the standings. American has a 1-2-2 conference record for five points and is looking to get back in playoff contention with a victory.
The Bison (6-5-3) are unbeaten in their last four matches. During this stretch, Bucknell has outshot their opponents 69-60. Kendall Ham has paced the team with three goals and one assist while Alexis Gannon found the back of the net in consecutive contests.
Ham continues to lead the Bucknell attack with her conference-leading eight goals. She also ranks second in the conference in points with 17. Eight other players have registered a goal this season, while four players have tallied two assists each.
The Bison defense continues to be one of the best in the Patriot League, posting a league-best six shutouts while Jessica Ratner ranks second in saves (69). The six shutouts are the third-highest single-season total in team history.
American (4-8-2) comes into Saturday's contest following a 5-0 loss at Penn on Tuesday. The Eagles lone league victory this year came in a 2-1 verdict at home against Lafayette.
Kelly Donovan has tallied four of the team's 13 goals this season, while three others have recorded two goals apiece, including Marley Jennings, who has posted a team-high four assists.
American holds an 8-7-1 lead in the all-time series against the Bison. Bucknell snapped a three-game losing streak to the Eagles last season with a 3-0 decision in Lewisburg. Sarah Bressette and Danielle Piccirilli each registered a goal in the contest, while Maddie Mulford and Jackie Ham each finished with an assist.
When the American match concludes, the Bison will return to Lewisburg to host Loyola next Wednesday at 7 p.m.
