LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell junior Chris Hass earned his third Lids Team Sports Patriot League Player of the Week Award of the season on Monday after averaging 27.0 points on 20-for-31 shooting in road wins over Loyola Maryland and Boston University last week. Hass was also named the 5th Quarter Fresh Bison Athlete of the Week.
It was a pivotal week for the Bison, who moved into a share of first place in the Patriot League after beating Loyola 75-61 on Wednesday and Boston University 92-77 on Saturday. Both games were tight in the second half until Hass got going. He scored 17 of his 26 points in the second half against Loyola and 18 of his 28 in the second half in Boston.
Hass hit 10 of 15 shots from the field and 4 of 7 from 3-point range in the Loyola game, and then followed that up by making 10 of 16 overall and 6 of 7 from the arc against Boston University. He hit three straight threes to break open the Loyola contest, and he canned three treys in a 15-5 run that stretched a four-point lead up to 14 against the Terriers. Hass did not have a turnover in either game, and he now has seven 20-point games on the season.
For the season, Hass is averaging 16.9 points per game, the fourth-best mark in the Patriot League. He is shooting 42.2 percent from the 3-point arc, and on Saturday he became the 20th player in program history to record 100 career 3-pointers.
At 11-10 overall and 6-2 in the Patriot League, the Bison share first place with Colgate. Bucknell hosts Lehigh on Wednesday at 8 p.m. in a game that will be televised by the American Sports Network and be streamed on the Patriot League Network.
