LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell divers Tara Boyle (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) and Tyler Wenzel (Telford, Pa./Souderton) swept the Patriot League diving weekly awards, the league office announced Monday. Boyle won her second PL Female Diver of the Week award this season, while Wenzel was named the PL Male Diver of the Week for the third time in 2014-15.
Boyle, a three-time Patriot League champion off the one-meter board, helped the Bison women to a 2-0 mark this past weekend as they defeated Army at home and Binghamton on the road. The senior recorded four top-two finishes in the two dual meets, taking first off the one-meter and second off the three-meter against the Black Knights and then following that performance with a pair of runner-up finishes against the Bearcats.
Boyle was Bucknell's top finisher off both boards against Binghamton and she has now finished in the top two in all six diving competitions over the last three meets.
At last year's Patriot League Championships, Boyle broke the Bucknell record off the one-meter board and still stands first on that list, while her name is second in program history for three-meter diving.
After not earning a weekly award in his first two years as a Bison, Wenzel now leads the Patriot League with his three diving weekly awards this season. He started the weekend by winning the three-meter competition and finishing second off the one-meter in a loss to Army. Just over 24 hours later he took second off the one-meter and third off the three-meter in a win at Binghamton.
Wenzel had three scores of at least 270 over the weekend and has now eclipsed that figure off the three-meter board in three consecutive meets.
Wenzel is a four-time scorer at the Patriot League Championships who ranks third in program history off the one-meter board and fifth off the three-meter.
Boyle and Wenzel and their teammates will be idle until a Jan. 24 home meet against Lehigh.
