LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior Liz Wills (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./William Penn Charter School) was named the Corvias Patriot League Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. She earned the honor after scoring the only goal in the Bison's 1-0 win at Penn on Saturday.
Wills, who has scored a goal in each of Bucknell's first three outings in 2014, tallied just over nine minutes into the contest against the Quakers. She is now tied for second in the Patriot League in both goals (3) and points (7) after entering the season with just two career goals.
A Preseason All-Patriot League selection, Wills has helped Bucknell to a 2-1 record this season. The Bison's only loss came in overtime at Rutgers. Saturday's victory was against a Penn team that tallied nine goals against Lehigh on Friday, but was held to just four shots against the Bison.
This is Wills' second career Patriot League honor after garnering Defensive Player of the Week honors last October when she scored the first goal of her career against Lafayette and helped hold the Leopards to just five shots.
Wills and her Bison teammates will wrap up their season-opening five-game road trip this weekend when they play at Saint Joseph's (Friday) and Princeton (Sunday).
