PRINCETON, N.J. – Freshman Grant Curry registered his fourth consecutive multi-goal game and Nick Hale dished out a season high-tying three assists, but the Bucknell men's water polo team could not post its second win over a ranked opponent in as many days Sunday afternoon at DeNunzio Pool. The Bison dropped a 9-6 decision to No. 12 Princeton less than 24 hours after defeating No. 20 George Washington in Kinney Natatorium.
Curry, who is now tied with Stefan Aleksic for the team lead in goals with 25, scored three times, giving him four straight multi-goal performances and eight overall on the year. R.J. Moore (2) and Jeff Hagen (1) also found the back of the net for the Bison, who fell to 5-6, 3-3 CWPA Southern Division on the year.
Aleksic was kept off the scoreboard, but did post two assists to give him 99 in his three-year Bucknell career.
Princeton (10-1, 5-1 CWPA) was held to its lowest goal total of the season by the Bison defense, spearheaded by a career high-tying 15 saves from goalie Keegan Williams. The only other time the Tigers did not reach double figures in goals was in a 10-9 loss to league foe Johns Hopkins. Williams now has 108 stops on the year.
Bucknell will return home for a conference game against Navy next Saturday, Oct. 4. Start time is 7 p.m. at Kinney Natatorium, a facility that has seen the Bison post a 63-30 all-time mark.
