LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Joe Farrell scored 2:24 into the second half to lift La Salle to a 1-0 victory over Bucknell in a non-league men's soccer game on Tuesday night at McCarthy Stadium. The Bison dropped their second straight 1-0 decision and fell to 4-4 on the season heading into Saturday's Patriot League opener at West Point.
Bucknell finished with a 15-8 shot advantage and generated eight corner kicks, but the Bison could not solve Mike Kirk (seven saves) and the La Salle defense.
Clarke Fox finished with three saves and Chris Thorsheim had a team-high four shots for the Bison, who also fell 1-0 to Xavier on a goal early in the second half on Saturday.
"Give credit to La Salle," said head coach Brendan Nash. "We knew coming into the game that they are a very good team and that they would make it difficult for us to score. They defended with passion, blocked shots and did what they needed to do to win 1-0. We are developing a habit of giving up goals early in the second half, so obviously we need to be more focused coming out of halftime."
La Salle's goal came in the 48th minute on a counter-attack after the Bison lost possession near midfield. Tom Baker crossed the ball in from the left side, and Farrell flicked it in at the near post.
The Exploreres (2-4-1) won their second straight game and snapped a five-game series losing streak to the Bison.
Bucknell will be back in action on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Army.
